Week of August 19
We have started reading groups! All third grade students will be in reading groups that will be taught by either Mrs. Ulrich or Mrs. Pennington. Some students will spend the reading block with the other 3rd grade teacher, depending on which group they are placed in.
During read aloud, we will be talking about character point of view.
Distinguish their own point of view from that of the narrator or those of the characters. RL6
In math, we have started working on the functions and connections between multiplication and division, using a variety of tools and strategies.
Interpret products of whole numbers. OA1
Writers will be introduced to a Writer’s notebook and the multiple ways it can be used to develop their identity as a writer. Writers will be exposed to multiple genres and the various types of writing within each genre . Writers will make noticings as they “read like a writer.” Writers will build stamina as they write routinely over extended periods of time for various purposes.
With guidance and support from adults, produce writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task and purpose. W4
In social studies, we are talking about Lindbergh rules and expectations, and how to be good citizens. Ask your child to tell you how we S. O. A. R.!
CG2: Individuals have rights and responsibilities.
We will begin science later in September.
